Kinesiology
Kinesiology (pronounced Kin-easy-ology) is a holistic natural approach to creating physical, mental and emotional health by balancing the body’s energies. Its development began in the research of American chiropractors in the 1960’s, who combined their knowledge with techniques from Chinese Medicine and other natural therapies. The principles of Kinesiology are based on the traditional Chinese Medicine philosophy of supporting a state of wellness rather than being motivated only when we are unwell.
The aim of Kinesiology is to identify and resolve the causal factors which are blocking the body’s natural healing processes. Muscle testing is the essential diagnostic tool upon which Kinesiologists rely.
What is muscle testing?
Kinesiology muscle testing involves the practitioner placing the recipients’s limb in a specific position. The person is instructed to hold the limb in this position whilst the practitioner applies a light pressure. The muscle will either hold easily or give way providing information about the muscle and its related meridian energy.
Meridians are channels of energy which flow through the body. Each meridian is linked with a specific bodily function, organ or gland and has associated emotional states. When the muscle being tested holds easily this indicates the meridian energy is in balance, if it gives way or cannot hold easily this indicates an imbalance.
Muscle testing is a natural biofeedback system which accesses information via the nerve pathways and meridian system. It bypasses the conscious ‘thinking’ process uncovering information often unavailable to the conscious mind. The body knows the best way of releasing or resolving the stress, and by using the muscle feedback system, Kinesiology can find the priority correction, treatment or remedy needed for the individual to restore balance. After the corrections needed are completed, the person is able to hold the muscle test position more easily, confirming and ‘anchoring’ the positive change into the body and mind. Everyone can benefit from Kinesiology. When stress overwhelms the body’s normal balance, it can present as physical pains, mental and emotional discomfort and many other expressions of ‘dis-ease’. You can also be balanced to personal goals and aspirations in any aspect of your life. Defusing limiting belief systems and redefining personal strengths allows you to be more than you believe.
